Nic Dos Santos is the CEO of a thriving coral business who is absolutely passionate about the long term health of the Great Barrier Reef.

He began diving at the age of 11 leading to a career supplying hand collected ornamental fish and invertebrates into the Queensland and global aquarium markets which in turn expanded into coral collection.

Nic is zealous about the long-term health of the Great Barrier Reef and recently added a research and science division to his current business operations to facilitate reef sustainability practices including: spawning of corals in a land based facility, coral aquaculture, surveys and monitoring, research into coral growth / recruitment rates. Further plans for future land and ocean based coral research are underway.

With years of on-water experience Nic brings invaluable real world knowledge and experience to environmental projects for government, educational and research clients. He specialises in the ability to apply underwater search and survey techniques.

Over the years Nic has averaged 260+ days per annum on the water and captained vessels of varying sizes. He holds a Coxswain Ticket, Commercial Harvest licences and specialist dive qualifications. He has dived extensively throughout the entire Great Barrier Reef since 1991 and has 27 years experience in the use of Surface Supplied Breathing Apparatus (SSBA). He has also completed the Reef Health Impact Survey (RHIS) course.
